Discover Morocco from Chefchaouen

This 4-day tour begins in the blue city of Chefchaouen and follows our original private itinerary toward the cultural cities, mountains, dunes and southern valleys of Morocco.

Your daily private tour programme

Today’s private drive links Chefchaouen with Midelt. Stops around Fes add a different mix of landscape and local life, and the timing can flex around the places that interest you most. Fes adds a deep cultural layer to the journey, with its historic medina, craft quarters, religious landmarks and centuries-old urban fabric. Midelt provides a natural pause between the Middle Atlas and the Ziz Valley, framed by mountain scenery. The main experiences are Rif Mountain scenery and Chefchaouen’s blue medina. Exact timing can shift with traffic, weather and opening hours, so the day is planned with enough margin to stay relaxed.

From the Rif towards the Middle Atlas

This private journey is planned around the interests of your group, with route choices explained before confirmation.

Southern gorges beyond the Sahara

Travel privately from Merzouga to Dades Gorges via Todra Gorge. Your driver keeps the day practical while leaving enough flexibility for scenic pauses, short walks and local visits along the route. The Dades Gorges bring dramatic rock formations, viewpoints and traditional villages to this stage of the route. This stage combines sunrise over Erg Chebbi, the transition from dunes back to oasis and valley landscapes, gorge scenery and short walks. With no coach timetable to follow, photo stops, refreshments and short walks can fit naturally into the day.

01

CHEFCHAOUEN – FES – MIDELT

Leave Chefchaouen in northern Morocco and continue toward Fes before crossing the Middle Atlas to Midelt. This is a full travel day, so sightseeing in Fes must be planned around realistic driving times. Chefchaouen is known for its blue medina in the Rif Mountains, with lanes, slopes and steps best explored without rushing. Midelt is a practical stop between mountain scenery and routes southward, helping to break up longer driving days. Crossing the Atlas introduces changing mountain scenery, with winding roads and conditions that can affect the day’s pace. On the stage “CHEFCHAOUEN – FES – MIDELT”, the sequence of stops is organised around realistic driving times. Your proposal distinguishes agreed visits from optional experiences and identifies where the day begins and finishes.

02

MIDELT – ERRACHIDIA – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

Set out from Midelt for the next stage of the journey, finishing in Merzouga. The road through Errachidia and Erfoud is part of the experience, not just a transfer, with planned stops and room for spontaneous photo breaks. Errachidia marks the transition into the Ziz and Tafilalt region on the approach to the desert. Erfoud is a gateway to the Tafilalt region, known for date palms, fossils and the transition from oasis towns to the Sahara. Look forward to a camel trek into Erg Chebbi, sunset over the dunes, a Sahara camp evening. Your driver manages the practical side of the route while you focus on the scenery, local atmosphere and the places included in the itinerary.

03

MERZOUGA – TODRA GORGE – DADES GORGES

After your time in Merzouga, cross the desert-edge landscapes toward the Todra Gorge. Continue through the canyon scenery to the Dades Valley, allowing time for viewpoints and breaks before reaching your overnight stop. Merzouga lies beside the Erg Chebbi dunes. Desert accommodation, sunset viewpoints and activities should be detailed in the confirmed itinerary. Todra Gorge has sheer rock walls above the narrow passage, where the available time determines whether a short walk or viewpoint stop is practical. The Dades Valley combines villages, cultivated areas and striking rock formations, with winding sections best explored without rushing.

04

DADES GORGES – SKOURA – OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

After breakfast, depart Dades Gorges for Marrakech. Rather than rushing through Skoura, Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou, the itinerary gives these places a meaningful role in the day and keeps the driving balanced with sightseeing. Around Skoura, palm groves and historic kasbahs break up the drive through the oasis landscape. Ouarzazate introduces the kasbah landscapes and film locations of southern Morocco before the road continues deeper into the valleys. Today is shaped around gorge scenery and short walks, kasbah architecture and southern Morocco’s film landscapes. Private transport makes it easier to pause where the route is most interesting and move on when a stop needs less time.
